Step 3 - Candidate Evaluation and Interview
Driver Suitability Evaluation (DSE)
During the Driver Suitability Evaluation, candidates will operate a 40 foot bus over a predetermined course. Initial coaching will be offered and then candidates will be monitored.
Interview
During the interview, candidates will be asked a series of questions that are behavioral, situational, and knowledge competency based. You will be expected to give real life experiences that relate to the questions. This interview will assist Winnipeg Transit in determining if you meet the organizational competencies needed to become a Bus Operator.
The Driver Suitability Evaluation and Interview will take approximately two (2) hours to complete.
Medical Assessment
Selected candidates will be required to complete a functional and medical assessment overseen by the City of Winnipeg’s Occupational Health Services (OHS). This will include a drug and alcohol test.
Criminal Record Check
Selected candidates, at their own expense, are also required to successfully complete and supply a Criminal Record Check with a Vulnerable Sector search through the Winnipeg Police Service.
Reference Check
You must provide three work-related references and sign a consent form allowing Winnipeg Transit to contact these references.
Candidates will have their references contacted. If we are unable to contact the references provided, the candidate’s application will not proceed in the process until additional references are submitted.
Only work related references will be accepted; personal references will not be accepted.
Please note that successful completion of the above does not guarantee employment as a Bus Operator.
