Winnipeg Transit

U-Pass

Winnipeg Transit has partnered with the University of Manitoba, the University of Manitoba Students Union, the University of Winnipeg and the University of Winnipeg Student Association on the U-Pass program. It provides eligible students with a discounted transit pass for the fall and winter semesters in which they are attending classes full-time, with payment processed as part of their student fees.

U-Pass peggo card eligibility is determined by the institution you attend. If your post secondary institution determines that you are no longer eligible, your peggo card will be cancelled.

Reminder: Students will be required to show their valid student ID to the bus operator when boarding. Transit ID validation stickers for 2024-2025 are available from your student association.

Returning students who are eligible for a U-Pass should keep their U-Pass peggo cards. New students can pick up their U-Pass peggo cards on campus.

For more information, please visit your student association’s website:

peggo card issues

If you are having issues with your U-Pass peggo card, if your card was stolen, or if you have lost your card you will need to contact your student association.

Post-secondary peggo card

Students attending participating post-secondary institutions who are not eligible for the U-Pass can purchase a post-secondary peggo card from their institution to receive fare discounts when travelling by bus. Post-secondary fare products are available for purchase at Winnipeg Transit’s participating retailers. For students who register their cards, post-secondary fares can also be loaded online.

Students using a post-secondary peggo card will be required to show their valid student ID to the bus operator when tapping your peggo card. A validation sticker for the current school year will be affixed to your student ID by student association staff. The validation sticker on your student ID is required for all post-secondary users.

Those using a post-secondary card without a Student Card with a valid ID sticker risk having their card confiscated. Your post-secondary pass is for your use only, and it is illegal to sell or transfer your peggo card to another person.
