The reloadable electronic peggo card makes paying your fare more convenient than ever.

It’s simple and easy to use – just hold your card against the peggo card reader on the farebox, wait for the beep, and go. It’s also easy to reload and has a number of security features for your peace of mind. For more information, visit the peggo Frequently Asked Questions.


Fare Summary

Full Fare: Applies to individuals aged 17 – 64 who are not in high school or attending a participating post-secondary institution.

Youth Fare: Applies to youths 16 and under*, and high school students 17-21 with a GoCARD. Photo ID must be shown to Operator when boarding.

*Note: Children aged 11 and under are able to ride free when accompanied by a fare-paying customer.

Senior Fare: Applies to persons who are age 65 or older. Photo ID must be shown to the Operator when boarding.

Post-Secondary Fare: Post-secondary peggo cards and validated ID available at participating post-secondary institutions only. Validated student ID must be shown to the Operator when using a post-secondary peggo card. More information is available on the post-secondary pass page.

WINNpass: The WINNpass is available for purchase by adults who have been accepted to the WINNpass program. The WINNpass program is expanding in 2023 to benefit more eligible Winnipeg residents. More information is available on the WINNpass program page.

*e-cash can be loaded in denominations of $5, $10, $15, $20, $30 and $50, in any combination, to a maximum of $200. Minimum purchase amount is $5.00.

**The semester pass is a four-month fare product available to students registered at a participating post-secondary institution that is available for the terms of January – April, May – August or September – December of each year.

***Tickets are sold in sheets of five or 10 at Transit Customer Service Centres and select agent locations. Note: 2023 bus tickets (plus applicable cash difference) will be accepted until March 31, 2024.

All transit fare product purchases are non-refundable.

The use of a peggo card is subject to the peggo card terms and conditions.

Paper passes and photo ID (where required) must be fully visible to the Operator when boarding. Fraudulent use of transit fare products is a criminal offence. All passengers are expected to follow the Passenger Code of Conduct.

All fare products are also available for use on Winnipeg Transit Plus, however, peggo cards cannot be used as payment. For more information visit the Winnipeg Transit Plus page or call 204-986-5722.


A transfer must be requested when you pay your fare and can only be used by the person to whom it was issued. Transfers are valid for 75 minutes from the time of issuance and can be used on any regular bus route on the date of issue and for travel in any direction, including return trips until the expiry time shown.

Photo IDs (including GoCARDs)

High school students and senior citizens must meet certain age and identification requirements to be eligible for reduced fares.

High school students, age 17 to 21 years, who attend a recognized Winnipeg high school on a full time basis must show a Transit GoCARD Photo ID at the time they pay their fare. Most high schools issue students a GoCARD Photo ID in the fall of each school year.

Seniors, age 65 or older, qualify for reduced fares by presenting government-issued identification or a Transit Photo ID when paying their fare.

Children who look older than their age may be asked by the Bus Operator for proof of age.

“Under 17” cards are available from Winnipeg Transit.

Senior Photo ID, Under 17 cards and GoCARDSs can be purchased at the Fort Rouge Transit Customer Service Centre located at B-414 Osborne Street (Monday to Friday – 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.)

  • Proof of age is required for the senior citizen and GoCARD Photo IDs.
  • Proof of attendance at a Winnipeg high school is also required for a Student GoCARD Photo ID.

There is a fee for Transit issued photo ID or GoCARDs. Fees are as listed in the fare table.
